See what all the excitement is about at the Clermont Sailing Center!
Sailing is truly a unique sport: skills learned now can be used and enjoyed for a lifetime. Sailing challenges both the mind and the body allowing individuals with different strengths and weaknesses to find their niche. That niche might be competitive or recreational: you can sail big boats or little boats, by yourself, with a friend, or as part of a team.
The primary aim of the Clermont Sailing Center youth program is to develop solid sailing skills, and to provide inspiration to young sailors, from the beginner to the advanced or racing sailor, with an emphasis on fun and safety. Students are taught in boats commensurate with their age, size, ability and interest. Clermont Sailing Center uses dinghies like the Optimist, Laser, Club 420, and Sunfish.
Safety, Swimming and Age Pre-Requisites
All programs are coed for ages 9-18 years old. Classes are taught by a crew of friendly, experienced, U.S. Sailing certified instructors who make lessons fun and educational, and include S.T.E.M. aspects using sailing as the educational platform.
Safety is first and foremost in the minds of the instructors. All youth participating must pass a swim check. Life jackets will be worn at all times when students are on the shoreline or in boats.
